IMD Weather Update: Delhi’s AQI ‘Severe,’ Rainfall Alert For Tamil Nadu, Kerala; Fog Engulfs Punjab, Haryana

According to the latest information and data from IMD, light to moderate rainfall is also expected in many places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from November 20 to 22.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning on November 25 over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. Additionally, light to moderate rain is likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the week.

According to the latest information and data from IMD, light to moderate rainfall is also expected in many places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from November 20 to 22. IMD has also predicted isolated hailstorm activity over Assam and Meghalaya today.

IMD Weather Update: Forecast & Warnings

IMD has predicted dense fog conditions in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from late night of November 21 to early morning of November 24 and in Uttar Pradesh on November 20 in the night/morning hours. Dense fog conditions will likely persist during the night and early morning hours in Himachal Pradesh till November 22.

Weather Systems

According to the latest weather update, an upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the South Andaman Sea and adjoining areas tomorrow. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and become a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 23. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal during
the subsequent 2 days. A cyclonic circulation lies over south Tamil Nadu & adjoining Comorin area in lower tropospheric levels.

Temperature Conditions And Forecast

IMD observed that there has been no major change in minimum temperature over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, a gradual decline in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C is likely to prevail over Central India during the next 5 days. No large change in minimum temperatures has been predicted over northeast India during the next 2 days.

IMD has predicted a gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C over Maharashtra and Gujarat Region during the next 5 days.

IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi

Delhi experienced a slight decline in maximum and minimum temperatures during the past 24 hours. The air quality in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram reached ‘alarmingly high’ levels, touching the 500-mark i.e. ‘severe plus’ category yesterday. A dense layer of smog continues to engulf Delhi-NCR for the seventh consecutive day.

Delhi will have mainly clear sky with smog/moderate to dense fog likely in the morning. The predominant surface wind is likely to be from northwest direction with speed less than 08 kmph during morning hours. Smog/ shallow fog is likely to engulf Delhi in evening/night also.

AQI: As of 7:38 am, AQI in Delhi is recorded at 423 as of CPCB data. AQI recorded at other places: Anand Vihar (453), Bawana (457), Jahangirpuri (460), Narela (452), R K Puram (423), Punjabi Bagh (443), Patparganj (436), Okhla Phase-2 (411), Rohini (458), Shadipur (421), Wazirpur (462).
