IMD Weather Update: Fluctuating AQI In Delhi, Rain Break For Bengaluru, Dense Fog In Punjab; Check Trends For UP & Bihar

A new Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region during the night of December 7 and adjoining plains of Northwest India on December 8.

IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported ‘heavy’ to ‘very heavy’ rainfall at isolated places over Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam during the past 24 hours. A reduction in the intensity of rain in southern states such as Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry has been observed after Cyclone Fengal weakened in the coastal areas gradually.

According to IMD’s latest information and data, dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail during late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from December 7 to 9.

Weather Trends For Delhi

The Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped to the ‘moderate category on Wednesday, providing Delhiites with the cleanest air day in December 2024 after nearly 50 days. However, IMD observed that the air quality may fluctuate in the coming days, returning to the ‘poor’ category from ‘moderate’ on Friday and thereafter.

As per the Early Warning System (EWS) for Delhi, moderate fog and slower winds are expected in the city. leading to a slight rise in pollution levels after December 7.

Weather Trend For Bengaluru

Bangalore has been constantly battling rainy days for a few days as a result of Cyclone Fengal. The Silicon City is expected to experience a brief break from rainfall on December 7. It will thereafter continue to witness thundershowers starting December 8 again, according to the IMD.

Bengaluru woke up to heavy showers this morning again after observing a dry day on Wednesday.

Weather Trend For Uttar Pradesh, Bihar

Uttar Pradesh witnessed a slight effect from the cyclonic storm ‘Fengal’ in South India, with winds blowing at a speed of 20 to 30 kilometers per hour in different areas since yesterday. IMD has predicted no likelihood of dense fog in the coming few days, however, a fall in temperature is expected from today. Additionally, it may also experience severe cold in the next 4 to 5 days.

Bihar is not experiencing severe cold as of now but dense fog was spotted on Thursday morning in most of the areas of the state.

Weather Systems

A new Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region during the night of December 7 and adjoining plains of Northwest India on December 8. It is very likely to result in scattered light/moderate rainfall/snowfall over the said region.
