IMD Weather Update: Heavy Downpour Predicted In Tamil Nadu And Various Region of Northeast India

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura are expected to receive isolated heavy rainfall today.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Rayalaseema and north east region. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura are likely to receive heavy rainfall.

IMD in its press release said that heavy rainfall will be observed over Kerala, Mahe and Tamil Nadu during the week and over northeast India during first half of the week.

It said a low pressure area is likely to form over Lakshadweep and adjoining southeast & east central Arabian Sea around 09th October.

Withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon

On further withdrawal of southwest monsoon, IMD said that the line of withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon continues to pass through 29°N/84°E, Nautanwa, Sultanpur, Panna, Narmada Puram, Khargone, Nandurbar, Navsari and 20°N/70°E.

It informed that conditions are favourable for withdrawal of monsoon from states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and some parts of Maharashtra during next 2-3 days.

For Lakshadweep, IMD has predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during the week and over

Rayalaseema and Coastal Karnataka on 9th October.

Northeast India

For states of North East India, IMD has predicted scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall during the week.

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura are expected to receive isolated heavy rainfall today.

Northwest, West, East & Central India

There is no significant warning of rainfall from IMD for these regions during next one week.

Fishermen Warning

IMD has informed that squally weather with wind speed of 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is very likely to prevail over Maldives, Lakshadweep Comorin areas, many parts of southeast Arabian sea, calong & off Kerala, Karnataka coasts, gulf of Mannar during 8th – 11th October. Therefore, fishermen are advised to not venture into these areas.
