According to the Indian Meteorological Department, temperatures have significantly shifted across various regions of India. As the mercury climbs across several regions, a mixed pattern of temperature changes is being observed across the country.
Temperature Forecast For Different Regions
As per the press release, “Gradual Rise in maximum temperatures by 3-5°C likely over Northwest India during next 5-6 days till 18th April and gradual fall by 2-4°C during subsequent 2 days. No significant change in maximum temperatures is likely over Central India during the next 24 hours and gradual rise by 2-4°C during the 15th-18th and a gradual fall by 2-4°C during the subsequent 2 days. Rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C likely over interior Maharashtra during the next 5 days and no significant change thereafter during the subsequent 2 days. Gradual Rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3″C likely over Gujarat State during next 4 days till 17th April and gradual fall by 2-3°C during subsequent 3 days.”
Minimum Temperatures Above Normal In Several Areas
As per IMD, the minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal—ranging between 3.1°C to 5.0°C—at isolated locations in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, West Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Meanwhile, above-normal minimum temperatures (1.6°C to 3.0°C) were observed at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, West Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry & Karaikal.
Maximum Temperatures Show Significant Rise
On the other hand, maximum temperatures soared in several parts of the country. The IMD noted that temperatures were markedly above normal (by 5.1°C or more) in parts of Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, while appreciably above normal maximums (3.1°C to 5.0°C) were seen in Gujarat, and isolated areas in the Northeast, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam.
Heat Wave Conditions In Several States
Heat wave conditions are very likely at isolated places over West Rajasthan on the 14th, 15th & 19th; East Rajasthan during the 15th-19th; Gujarat State during the 15th-17th; Punjab, Haryana, West Madhya Pradesh during the 16th-18th.
Hot And Humid Conditions In The South And West
Hot and humid conditions are expected to persist over Kerala and Mahe on April 14th and 15th, and across Gujarat from April 15th to 17th. Isolated areas in West Rajasthan are likely to experience warm nights between April 16th and 18th, while East Rajasthan may see similar conditions on April 17th and 18th.
