India Rejects Allegations By Canada Over Links With Khalistani Nijjar’s Murder

India rejected accusations levelled by the Canada over having potential links with the murder of KTF chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June.

New Delhi: India on Monay rejected accusations levelled by the Canada over having potential links with the murder of KTF chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June.

“We have seen and reject the statement of the Canadian Prime Minister in their Parliament, as also the statement by their Foreign Minister. Allegations of Government of India’s involvement in any act of violence in Canada are absurd and motivated…We are a democratic polity with a strong commitment to rule of law,” the statement said.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in an statement said, “Allegations of Government of India’s involvement in any act of violence in Canada are absurd and motivated.”

The notice added that Canadian PM Justin Trudeau had made similar allegations to PM Narendra Modi, which were “completely rejected”.

Canada Sacks Top Indian Diplomat

As mentioned by Canadian foreign minister Mélanie Joly, a top Indian diplomat was expelled from his post after PM Trudeau accused India to have connections behind Nijjar’s assasination.

Justin Trudeau said Canada’s security was actively pusruing “credible allegation” of having a potential links between the agents of India and killing of Canadian citizen Nijjar. The PM cited that protecting Canadian citizen and defending its soverignity is fundamental and top priorities.

Killing Of Khalistani Terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar

Nijjar’s death Hardeep Singh Nijjar wanted by the Indian government, was killed in a targeted shooting on June 18. Nijjar was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Surrey.

In 2022, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for Nijjar after he was accused of plotting to murder a Hindu priest in Jalandhar, Punjab. The plot to kill the priest was carried out by the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF). Nijjar, based in Canada, heads the KTF.
