Sources said that the firing was aimed at a BSF patrol party, probably to divert there attention and push terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Befitting reply by BSF Jammu to unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers in Arnia sector today,” BSF said in a statement.

BSF officials said that on Tuesday morning alert BSF troops gave a befitting reply to the unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers on a BSF patroling party in the Arnia sector of Jammu. Officials said that no loss or injury to BSF troops were reported during the firing incident.

BSF officials said that since long Pakistan had failed to push the terrorists to this side in absence of covering fire and this had made them desperate to break the ceasefire agreement, but Indian troops new the pak designs and accordingly the Indian Army and the BSF were on high alert.

BSF officials said that there were already inputs that Pakistan is desperate to push the trained terrorists to this side of Jammu and Kashmir before the onset of winter.

Earlier around 19 months before on both countries agreed for strict observance of all agreements understandings and cease firing along the Line of Control (LoC) and all other sectors with effect from midnight February 24-25 Feb 2021. This was the first time since the 2003 ceasefire agreement that both countries agreed to adhere to the ceasefire.
