Jewar Airport Set To Redefine Air Travel In India; First Phase Nears Completion-Details Inside

Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, is nearing completion in Gautam Buddha Nagar and is poised to become a game-changer for Indian aviation.

Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, is almost finished in Gautam Buddha Nagar, with one runway and a terminal ready to operate its first flight. The airport is being developed by Zurich International AG, and the development activities are being conducted by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), and will per international standards meet the timelines for completion as directed by the authority.

In what paving the way for India’s first 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) project to be developed in this aviation sector, the airport is expected to be completely finished with six runways and six terminals, with annual capacity expected to match the future demand of 225 million passengers.

This expansion will alleviate pressure on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, which is already running at capacity with 80 million passengers annually.

YEIDA’s CEO Arunvir Singh, referred to as an aviation expert, pointed to Jewar Airport’s importance in establishing an international hub for aviation. Only 700 metres from the Yamuna Expressway and connected to the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, the Lucknow–Agra Expressway, Ganga Expressway, and Meerut –Prayagraj Expressway, travelling from Jaipur to Jewar takes only 2 hours and 21 minutes.

Before it is officially operational, the airport will be fully integrated with multimodal transport including a rapid rail corridor, Noida Metro extension and the planned Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system. Additionally, Indian Railways is constructing an underground transport link from Jewar to the Amritsar–Kolkata corridor via the Chola line.

The state government has also pointed to YEIDA’s accomplishment of securing 6,000 hectares of land for the airport without even a single court or opposition, making the case a landmark for conflict-free land acquisition.
Jewar Airport is projected to not only benefit the National Capital Region but will also change the landscape of civil aviation in India as a major domestic and international travel gateway.
