The kidney transplant process for Rashtriya Janata Dal President Lalu Yadav is underway in Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore, with his daughter and donor Rohini Acharya being operated on before her father.
Rohini Acharya is donated a kidney to Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday. Lalu has two sons and seven daughters, the second of whom is Rohini. She is currently undergoing a kidney transplant in a Singapore hospital.
Before entering the hospital, Rohini tweeted a pre-surgery photo with her father, saying she is “ready to rock and roll” and asking her followers to wish her luck.

She further said she believed Lalu Prasad Yadav needed to be healthy for the welfare of people. She took such a brave step. Lalu Yadav has been taken into custody by the hospital. Rohini has already completed the first round of testing with flying colours.
Mr Yadav, who was suffering from kidney problems, was advised to have a transplant. Ms Acharya said that she planned to donate one of her kidneys to her father, referring to herself as “destiny’s child.”
Rohini’s husband and in-laws have also agreed for Lalu Yadav to receive a kidney transplant. She was admitted to the hospital late Sunday night for a transplant. If everything goes as planned, a transplant procedure will be performed today. Currently, 90 to 95 percent of Rohini’s kidney is functional. Lalu’s kidneys are working normally in 28% of cases. Approximately 70% of patients will resume work after the transplant. This is deemed adequate in terms of health.
Under the direction of RJD MP Ritlal Yadav, supporters carried Lalu’s photographs and recited mantras at a Kali temple in Patna.
Abhishek Kumar Sajan, the RJD’s Patna youth wing leader, led a large group of party members in performing havans at the Maa Shitla Devi temple, where similar situations were also present.
Dr. Misa Bharti, the eldest daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav and a Rajya Sabha MP, tweeted an update from Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore, where the surgery is taking place. She said, “Rohini, her younger sister, underwent a successful donor operation. She is now completely healthy in the intensive care unit. Dad’s operation is currently underway.”
