In a recent setback to Air India, Air India flight AI 159 from Ahmedabad to London was cancelled at short notice following a technical issue. It is surprising as it comes in the aftermath of Air India flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London crashing during take-off, casting serious doubts on consecutive disruptions with the national carrier.
As if the nerves of the passengers following the AI171 experience were not enough, this fresh cancellation added to the fear about the airline’s maintenance and safety.
A similar incident happened in the morning, the Air India flight AI180 from San Francisco to Mumbai suffered an engine failure while approaching its destination at Kolkata Airport. The engine failure was noticed in descent mode, and thus the authorities did not take any risks, and the passengers were evacuated safely as a precautionary measure.
These mishaps are happening when the globe wants to talk about air safety and air travellers want transparency and assurance.
Many Passengers have spoken to ANI about it, one of the passengers said, “I was going to Gatwick, London, by the 1 p.m. Air India flight, but I have just learned that the flight has been cancelled. The crew members could not give any reason for the flight cancellation or details on a fare refund.”

Another passenger said, ” I am travelling with my wife and two children. We have no answers from the airline company for the flight cancellation…”
“We have been told that today’s flight has been cancelled, and it will depart at 1100 hours tomorrow. All passengers here are troubled,” says the relative of a passenger.
