The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has clarified that no toll tax exemption will be provided for vehicles travelling to Prayagraj for the Maha kumbh 2024.
In a recent statement, the NHAI refuted rumors that suggested a waiver of toll charges on key routes leading to the Maha kumbh, where millions of pilgrims are expected to gather.
According to the NHAI, the collection of tolls on National Highways follows the guidelines set under the National Highway Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. Exemptions from toll fees are only granted in accordance with specific provisions outlined in these rules.
The statement emphasized that while the authority is committed to ensuring smooth and efficient travel for pilgrims during the Maha kumbh, toll charges will remain in place as per existing regulations.
This announcement comes in the wake of multiple reports suggesting a possible exemption from toll fees on major routes leading to Prayagraj. The NHAI has assured the public that while they are taking all necessary steps to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic during the event.
