The Azamgarh police said a man shot himself after killing his mother and four-year-old son in Mustafabad village of the district.
Accused worked at Varanasi petrol pump
According to PTI, the accused has been identified as Neeraj Pandey. He was employed at a petrol pump in Varanasi. Neeraj’s seven-year-old daughter also got injured in the incident and was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
According to police, Neeraj opened fire at his mother, son, and daughter in a fit of rage.
Neighbours heard the gunshot
A senior police officer said the neighbours heard the gunshot and rushed to the spot, and found family members injured.
The police official said the initial probe suggested that the accused was under the influence of alcohol, and a family dispute may have been behind the attack.
Gujarat: Two dead after car falls into canal in Gandhinagar
In a separate incident, two people died after a car fell into a canal in Gandhinagar on Tuesday, officials said.
Rajesh Patel, Chief Fire Officer (Gandhinagar), said that two bodies have been recovered and authorities are yet to ascertain the number of people present inside the vehicle.
“One Kiran Desai called us up at 2.43 pm that a four-wheeler has called in Narmada Canal. Our team rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation. Two bodies have been recovered. We do not know how many people were there in the vehicle,” Chief Fire officer Patel said.
