In a scary case similar to the Meerut drum murder, a man’s rotting body was found in Ludhiana. According to the media reports, it was wrapped in a plastic bag and stuffed inside a blue drum. The body was discovered after residents reported a persistent foul smell in the area, prompting a police search and investigation.
The initial investigation has led the police to believe that the deceased might be a migrant worker. SHO Gangandeep Kaur, who is leading the probe, said they suspect this based on the man’s facial features. However, the body was too decomposed to identify the injuries. “There are no visible external injury marks for now. The body has been sent for the post-mortem, which will clarify the reason of the death,” she was quoted by India Today as saying. They believe that the murder may have been planned. Police are investigating whether the drum was specially bought to throw the body.
Investigation On
According to reports, the investigating officers have compiled a list of 42 drum manufacturing units in Ludhiana. The drum in which the body was found appears to be brand new, which suggests the possibility of a premeditated murder. “There is suspicion that the drum was freshly bought before the killing,” police sources were quoted by India Today as saying.
CCTV Footage Under Probe
Police are also actively scanning CCTV footage within a five-kilometre radius, including major locations like bus depots, railway stations, and industrial corridors. Several suspicious vehicle registrations are being examined to identify those who may have dumped the drum.
