The Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, in which Sonam Raghuvanshi is accused of killing her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, remains shrouded in mystery. During police interrogation, she has reportedly failed to provide clear answers or offer any breakthrough in response to several crucial questions. Sonam has not yet revealed any details about the four phones the couple possessed. It is believed that she destroyed all the devices after the murder.
According to a report by NDTV, the couple had four mobile phones at the time of Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder. After the three hitmen killed her husband, Sonam broke Raja’s phone and discarded it. The remaining three phones, which were with Sonam, are still missing, and the police are actively searching for them.
WhatsApp Blunder
Sonam broke Raja’s mobile phone and disposed of it. The three mobile phones that were with her are still missing, and the police are actively searching for them. However, in the meantime, Sonam made a crucial mistake that helped the police trace her. After reaching Indore, she inserted her SIM card into a phone and turned on mobile data to check her WhatsApp messages. This made the police trace her. According to call data records accessed by the police, between March 1 and March 25, Sonam and Sanjay exchanged 119 calls. His mobile number is currently switched off.
After her arrest, she has not said what happened to her phone. The police are still questioning her. The search for the three phones is happening in many districts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The Meghalaya Police recreated the crime scene on Tuesday. According to officials, all three contract killers hired by Sonam took part in the attack on Raja Raghuvanshi.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) visited many places, from Mawlakhiat to a parking lot at Wei Sawdong falls where the crime took place. According to the police, “Sonam has already confessed her crime. We reached the crime scene where she was standing. What was her role, everything came to light. Three people killed Raja and Sonam was standing there. She destroyed the phone. Everything was planned well. The three threw his body.”
Murder
On May 23, Raja was killed in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills after being attacked and thrown into a gorge near the Wei Sawdong Falls. His body was recovered 10 days later. The three attackers- Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi- were reportedly hired by Raj Kushwaha. He is 20 years old and works as an accountant at Sonam’s family’s plywood business in Indore.
Police believe that Sonam Raghuvanshi helped plan the murder. They also think Sonam Raghuvanshi gave the signal to start the attack and helped get rid of the body afterwards.
