Monsoon LIVE Update: As monsoon approaches, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts an increase in rainfall activity. The Weather Department said that isolated heavy showers are expected to lash Northwest India from June 25 onwards. Meanwhile, an alert has been sounded for torrential rains over many parts of Central, East, and Northeast India during the next 7 days
As per IMD’s latest press release, while West Madhya Pradesh will see intense downpour today, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh will receive rain during 23rd-27th. Residents in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh are advised to exercise caution as rain will continue to lead to potential traffic disruptions and waterlogging in different areas.
Monsoon is also expected to hit parts of Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat, starting today, and would likely continue till 29th June, 2025. Additionally, IMD has said that weather conditions are favourable for the advance of the southwest monsoon into the remaining parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. The monsoon will likely arrive in the national capital by June 30.
A warning against isolated heavy rainfall has also been issued over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, during 25th-27th; Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan during 24th-29th; West Rajasthan on 24th & 25th; East Uttar Pradesh on 24th, 28th & 29th; Kerala, Karnataka during 24th-27th; Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on 27th and 28th June.

Strong surface winds, with speeds likely reaching 40–60 kmph, are expected over Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Kerala and Mahe, and Lakshadweep between June 24 and 27.
