Monsoon Update: Rainy Outlook For Delhi-NCR And UP, Winds Expected At 30-40 Kmph

The monsoon is in full swing across several southern and eastern states of India. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for coastal regions of Karnataka, Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh.

The monsoon has arrived in North India, bringing relief from the heat wave for many. However, parts of Punjab and Bihar are still experiencing severe heat wave conditions.

According to the latest update from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures in North India are dropping as the monsoon arrives. Yesterday, Jaisalmer in western Rajasthan recorded the highest temperature at 45 degrees Celsius. Across Punjab to western Rajasthan, temperatures ranged between 40 to 43 degrees Celsius. Additionally, temperatures in most areas of Haryana, Chandigarh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar were observed between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.

IMD Issues Red Alert

The monsoon is at its peak in many southern and eastern states of India. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for coastal areas of Karnataka, Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, and Arunachal Pradesh from June 24-26. Assam and Meghalaya are expected to experience heavy rains on June 27-28. Madhya Maharashtra will likely see heavy rains from June 25-28, and Odisha on June 27-28. Additionally, IMD has forecasted very heavy rains with a red alert for Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat.

Monsoon Is Active In These States

The monsoon has become active in Rajpipla, Ujjain, Vidisha, Siddhi, Haldia, Sahibganj, and Raxaul in northern India. Conditions are favorable for the monsoon in North India, and it is expected to cover Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar completely over the next 3-4 days. Additionally, the monsoon may also reach certain areas in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during this period.

IMD forecasts light rain possible in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha over the next five days. Thunderstorms and winds of 30-40 kilometers per hour are expected during this period. The intensity of the heat wave is decreasing. The monsoon is projected to cover the entire country by the end of June.

Yesterday, light rain was observed in Delhi and nearby areas, leading to a decrease in temperature. According to the latest IMD update, cloudy conditions may bring rain to Delhi NCR in the coming hours. There is a chance of drizzle and light rain in Delhi, Sonipat, Rohtak, Dadri, Mahendragarh, Jhajjar, and Farukhnagar.
