A 27-year-old Muslim waiter was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra. A controversy sparked over the incident after social media flooded with the killing as “Pahalgam revenge” which the police rejected as a fake narrative. The incident took place on April 23.
Men claimed members of ‘Kshatriya Gau Raksha Dal’
After the incident, a video showing two men claiming themselves as members of ‘Kshatriya Gau Raksha Dal’ and killing the man as revenge for the Pahalgam attack went viral on social media. The Tajganj police rejected the claims. The men came on a scooter and shot the victim, Gulfam. They also targeted a person, Saif Ali, who was working at a nearby dhaba. He has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Police: No such organisation exists
Agra Police commissioner also posted a tweet on X, stating that no such organisation exists in the city.
Police registered case under various sections
A senior police officer said an FIR under sections 101 and 109 has been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and teams have been formed to catch the accused. In the video, the two accused are armed with weapons like knives and other sharp weapons.

On April 22, terrorists attacked tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, killing 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen while leaving several others injured. It was noted that this attack came in the wake of the successful holding of elections in the Union Territory and its steady progress towards economic growth and development.
