Nagpur Riots: When the CM was asked about any foreign involvement in the riots, he said that it was too early to comment on a foreign or Bangladeshi hand in the riots. He also snubbed any “intelligence failure” related to Nagpur riots. However he added that the intelligence (gathering) could have been better. He said rioters threw stones at women constables. “They were not molested”. “There is no political angle to the violence,” he added.

Uttar Pradesh’s Bulldozer Politics

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s use of bulldozer politics to crack down on lawbreakers sparked widespread criticism last year. The bulldozer became a powerful symbol of the state’s uncompromising approach, targeting those accused of serious crimes. This aggressive action earned Adityanath the nickname ‘Bulldozer Baba’ as his government frequently deployed demolitions as a means of enforcement.

Today, the Supreme Court took a firm stance on bulldozer justice, setting clear guidelines for carrying out demolitions. A bench comprising Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Viswanathan delivered its verdict on petitions challenging the use of bulldozers against individuals accused of crimes, marking a significant legal development on the issue.
