The Maharashtra Police said a woman strangled her six-year-old daughter and died by suicide at her residence in Navi Mumbai. The daughter has been identified as Vaishnawi, while the woman has been identified as 26-year-old Priyanka Kamble.
Woman was under mental stress: Husband to police
According to PTI, the incident occurred at Priyanka’s residence on April 23 in the Ghansoli area. A senior police officer said the woman’s husband told the police that his wife was a patient with high blood pressure and was under mental stress.
Autopsy confirms death by strangulation
The police said the initial probe suggested that it was an accidental death of the child but the autopsy report revealed that she was strangled.
Police registered case
Upon receiving a complaint from the woman’s husband, a senior police official said that a case has been registered under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The police have launched a probe into the matter.
Woman held for anti-national comment
A woman from Golaghat district was detained by the Crime Branch from Guwahati for allegedly making “controversial” and “anti-national” comments on the Pahalgam terror attack, a police official said. The woman was later handed over to the Golagat police, who subsequently arrested her.
As many as 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in the incident that took place in the Baisaran meadow in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22.

Golaghat Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajen Singh said “A woman named Dadhichi Dimple alias Dimple Baruah from Golaghat district of Assam was detained by the Crime Branch from Guwahati for making controversial and anti-national comments on the Pahalgam Terror Attack. She was later handed over to the Golaghat police. The Golaghat police arrested her and brought her to the Golaghat police station.”
