The ‘historic event’ is scheduled to take place on May 28 where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the new triangular-shaped infrastructure to the nation.

Opposition Boycotts Inauguration of New Parliament Building

The decision that PM Modi will ingurate the building has been criticised severely by the Opposition after which, at least 20 parties announced that they will boycott the ceremony, while some are also following the suit.

In this regard, 19 Opposition parties wrote a joint letter stating that they would not attend the ceremony saying the Centre’s decision ‘completely sidelines’ President Draupadi Murmu.

Further in the letter, the Opposition said that the “undignified act” insults the high office of the President.

“However, Prime Minister Modi’s decision to inaugurate the new Parliament building by himself, completely sidelining President Murmu, is not only a grave insult but a direct assault on our democracy which demands a commensurate response,” read the letter.
