North India Monsoon LIVE Updates: North India is currently on alert as heavy rains are expected to lash several regions this week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast torrential rains in the Northwest regions, such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and East Rajasthan, from the 22nd to the 28th. Meanwhile, the monsoon has advanced in Himachal Pradesh, entire Ladakh & Kashmir, Jammu, and some parts of Punjab.
This year, the monsoon has covered most of North India earlier than expected. By June 24, Delhi/NCR will also witness intense downpour. On the other hand, the Weather Department has sounded an alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall over Northeast India during the next 7 days. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions and step out only when needed as the monsoon showers may lead to potential traffic disruptions and waterlogging in many areas.
Meanwhile, the conditions are also becoming favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon over East, Central, and West India. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Kerala & Maha, Coastal Karnataka during 23rd-28th June; Interior Karnataka during 25th-28th June.
Isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over Assam and Meghalaya on June 23, over Arunachal Pradesh on June 23 and 24, and over Nagaland and Manipur on June 23.
Extremely heavy rainfall (>20 cm/24 hours) is likely at isolated places over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra during 22nd-28th June.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana from June 23 to 26. Additionally, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Rajasthan are likely to witness similar rainfall from June 23 to 28, while West Rajasthan may experience heavy showers on June 27 and 28.
