Allegations and Immediate Response

The incident reportedly occurred when the mother and aunt of a second-year MBBS student visited the cardiology department for a routine check-up. Legal Proceedings and Investigation

Initially hesitant, the two women eventually filed an FIR after senior doctors intervened and encouraged them to pursue legal action. The police have recorded their statements under sections 161 and 164 of the CrPC.

Cuttack’s Additional DCP Anil Mishra confirmed the incident occurred on August 11 and emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. CCTV footage from the hospital is being reviewed as part of the inquiry. Mishra also indicated that the police are prepared to file an FIR if the assaulted doctor chooses to press charges against those who allegedly attacked him.
