Over 14 Injuries, Signs Of Sexual Assault And Strangulation: Kolkata Doctor’s Autopsy Reveals Chilling Details

Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: The autopsy report of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor from Kolkata’s R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, who was found brutally raped and murdered, has disclosed shocking details about the assault. The findings paint a grim picture of the violent nature of the crime.

Autopsy Details Brutal Attack on Victim

According to a report, the autopsy revealed over 14 injuries at different parts of the victim’s body. The injuries, on the head, face, neck, arms, and genitals, are testimonies to the brutality of the attack. The cause of her death was manual strangulation by smothering, a method of covering the face whereby breathing is not possible.

Additionally, it was clear from her autopsy report that she showed clear signs of sexual assault. It recorded evidence of forceful penetration and thick, white, viscid liquid found inside the genitalia of the victim, further supporting the claim of sexual violence.

The severe injuries noted were trauma to the nose, the right jaw, the left arm, and the shoulder. These injuries suggest that the victim had put up a violent struggle before being overpowered. It also mentioned hemorrhaging in the lungs and the existence of blood clots, indicative of extreme physical trauma.

Victim’s Struggle Revealed in Evidence

According to eyewitnesses, the victim’s body lay in a seminar hall on a podium. A blue bed sheet covered it from the neck down to the knees while her clothed body was messy her kurta was disheveled and her trousers missing. Her personal belongings, including a laptop, notebook, cell phone, and even a water bottle, lay next to her body.

Though half-asleep, the victim had fought back at her attacker. That struggle was evident from deep injury marks and scratches on the accused’s hands. These scratch marks got matched with skin and blood samples collected from the victim’s fingernails during a medical examination, a senior officer said. It was crucial evidence in the investigation.

The post-mortem report had concluded that the death was due to smothering and throttling with abrasions and bruises present on the face of the victim, extending from the eyes to the neck. Evidence had been brought on record that the accused gained an advantage as the victim was in a deep sleep at the time when the attack was made by him.
