Around 70,000 passengers are expected daily

According to the Greater Noida Authority, the Boraki railway station will be known as Greater Noida Terminal. The terminal has been designated as a “mega” terminal. The terminal will be a part of 176 hectares of Multimodal Transport Hub (MMTH), with 46 hectares allocated for the terminal development. The terminal will have 12 platforms and 63-yard lines for maintenance of trains. The terminal will have a multi-level design in which the platforms will be developed on the ground while the first floor will have retail shops, offices, and a guest house. The Authority CEO said that a few schemes have been approved by the Railway and talks are on with the officials over remaining projects. He said it is expected that the terminal will witness a footfall of over 70,000 passengers.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 3700 crore

The Multimodal Transport Hub is a part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). The hub will also include one ISBT and a Metro project which is designed to connect passengers from different parts of the Delhi-NCR region to the railway terminal. The terminal will be developed as a modern railway station with a built-up area of 70,000 square metres. Initially, the project’s estimated cost was Rs 1850 crore, but now it has been revised to Rs 3700 crore.

The work is expected to start in July

The MMTH was declared as a special project by the Indian Railways in December 2024. The officials said the Railways will expedite the acquisition process of land and it is expected to be completed within two months.  Out of the total 176 hectares of land of MMTH, only Railway-owned land remains to be acquired. The rest of the land has already been acquired. After completing the legal and administrative formalities, the construction work is expected to begin by July.

Ghaziabad station is the rail hub of Western UP

The Ghaziabad railway station has a capacity of 200 trains and witnesses a footfall of 50,000 passengers daily. The Greater Noida terminal is expected to reduce the burden of Delhi and Ghaziabad railway stations once it becomes operational.
