PM Modi Addresses G7 Outreach Session, Highlights Terrorism And Global South Issues — Key Takeaways

PM Modi emphasised the need to ensure energy security for all through a sustainable and green pathway. He detailed India’s global initiatives such as ISA, CDRI & the Global Biofuels Alliance, towards this objective.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday participated in G7 Outreach Session held in Kananaskis, Alberta (Canada). During his address at the outreach Session on Energy Security, PM Modi spoke at length about current challenges such as terrorism, conflicts, Deep fakes and others. He asserted that India considers its responsibility to bring the priorities and concerns of the Global South to the world stage. He reiterated that terrorism is an enemy of humanity and advocated for clear policies on it to achieve global peace.

PM Modi stressed that there should be no place for double standards on terrorism. He cited Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which he labelled as an attack on entire humanity.

“There should be no place for double standards on terrorism. The terrorist attack that happened on 22nd April was not only an attack on Pahalgam, but also on the soul, identity, and dignity of every Indian. It was an attack on the entire humanity,” PM said.

“Terrorism is an enemy of humanity. It is against all countries that uphold democratic values. For global peace and prosperity, our thoughts and policies must be clear – if any country supports terrorism, it will have to pay the price for it,” he added.

He pointed out that there are countries who are rewarded by others for supporting terrorism. “On one hand, we are quick to impose all kinds of sanctions based on our own preferences. On the other hand, countries that openly support terrorism are rewarded,” said PM Modi.

PM Modi further highlighted that Global South countries suffer the most from uncertainty and conflicts. They are the first to be hit by crises related to food, fuel, fertilizer, and finance. He reinstated that India considers it its responsibility to bring the priorities and concerns of the Global South to the world stage.

During his address, he stressed that at present Deep fake is a cause of great concern and everyone must cooperate for technology. “Deep fake is a cause of great concern. Therefore, water-marking or clear declaration should be made on AI-generated content. In the last century, we saw competition for energy. In this century, we will have to cooperate for technology,” added PM Modi.
