Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Accra, Ghana on Wednesday and received a warm welcome by Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama. A Guard of Honour, along with a 21-gun salute, was presented to the PM Modi. This is his first-ever bilateral visit to the country and also marks the first Prime Ministerial visit from India to Ghana in over three decades. During his visit, PM Modi will hold talks with Ghana President.
Notably, PM Modi is on five-nation visit to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia from July 2 to 9, a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs stated.

The statement further added that PM Modi had been invited to Ghana by President Mahama. Ghana is a valued partner in the Global South and plays an important role in the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States.
On his visit to Ghana, PM Modi said, “I look forward to my exchanges aimed at further deepening our historical ties and opening up new windows of cooperation, including in the areas of investment, energy, health, security, capacity building and development partnership. As fellow democracies, it will be an honour to speak at the Parliament of Ghana”.

PM Modi Receives Warm Welcome From Members Of Indian Diaspora
PM Modi received a warm welcome from members of Indian diaspora as he arrived at the hotel in Accra. A huge crowd gathered outside the hotel where PM Modi is scheduled to stay during his 2-day visit. Chants of “Vande Mataram”, “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Narendra Modi” filled the air as PM Modi shook hands with people.

A group of young children recited ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ before PM Modi as they welcomed him at the hotel. PM Modi acknowledged their performance with a huge applaud and a big smile.

Earlier, a young boy awaiting PM Modi’s arrival at hotel told ANI, “I feel so excited to meet him because he is a very great personality. I wish he were in front of me right now and I was hugging him because I have heard many stories about him…We are going to recite ‘shloka’…” a group of children recite ‘shloka’, ahead of the arrival of PM Modi here. The children will recite the ‘shloka’ before the PM, as he arrives here.
