Prime Minister Narendra Modi organized a grand roadshow in Bhubaneswar on Friday to celebrate the first anniversary of the BJP government in Odisha. The roadshow was greeted with huge crowds as the people took to the streets to greet the Prime Minister.
During his visit, PM Modi flagged off new train services extending rail connectivity to Boudh district for the first time.

PM Modi launched 105 projects worth Rs 18,600 crores. These projects will improve the infrastructure of Odisha.
These projects cover health infrastructure, rural roads, drinking water, bridges, national highways, and railway infrastructure.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Sonepur-Purunakatak railway line and flagged off the first passenger train to the Boudh district. Additionally, new railway projects were launched, including the third and fourth rail lines between Sarla and Sason, as well as the fourth line between Jharsuguda and Jamga.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), promoting clean and sustainable urban transport. Along with this, he released the ‘Odisha Vision Document’ prepared based on suggestions from the public, which presents a blueprint for the long-term development of the state. This document has been prepared given the centenary of Odisha becoming a linguistic state in 2036 and the completion of 100 years of independent India in 2047.
This scheme aims to make Odisha a $ 500 billion economy by 2036 and a $ 1.5 trillion economy by 2047. The Prime Minister also launched the ‘Barputra Aitihasya Gram Yojana’, under which the birthplaces of Odia personalities will be converted into cultural heritage sites. These will include museums, interpretation centers, statues, and libraries, which will not only boost cultural tourism but will also preserve heritage.
In addition, the Prime Minister felicitated some inspirational women from the state, including “Lakhpati Didis”. The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, an initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development, aims to make women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) economically self-reliant. Through this programme, women are earning an annual income of over Rs 1 lakh by taking up sustainable livelihoods. Odisha has taken the lead in this campaign by producing 16.60 lakh ‘Lakhpati Didis’, the highest number in the country so far.
