PM Modi To Inaugurate ‘World Food India 2023’ To Celebrate Indian Cuisine And Agri-Food Industry

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the second edition of 'World Food India 2023,' a grand food event, on Friday at Pragati Maidan in the Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the second edition of ‘World Food India 2023,’ a grand food event, on Friday at Pragati Maidan inDelhi. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place at 10 AM in Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan.

With the objective of empowering Self Help Groups (SHGs), the Prime Minister will distribute seed capital assistance to more than one lakh SHG members. This support aims to enhance SHGs’ market competitiveness through improved packaging and quality manufacturing, as stated in an official announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the ‘Food Street’ as a part of World Food India 2023. This unique culinary experience will showcase regional cuisines and royal culinary heritage, featuring participation from over 200 chefs.

The event’s primary goal is to spotlight India as the ‘food basket of the world’ and commemorate 2023 as the International Year of Millets. It will serve as a platform for networking and business interactions among government bodies, industry professionals, farmers, entrepreneurs, and various stakeholders. The agenda includes CEO roundtables focused on investment and ease of doing business.

Multiple pavilions will be established to showcase the innovation and strength of the Indian food processing industry. ‘World Food India 2023’ will host 48 sessions that cover various aspects of the food processing industry, emphasizing financial empowerment, quality assurance, and innovations in machinery and technology.

The event is expected to draw participants from over 80 countries, including CEOs of prominent food processing companies. Additionally, a Reverse Buyer Seller Meet will connect over 1200 overseas buyers from more than 80 countries.

The Netherlands has been designated as the partner country for the event, while Japan will hold the position of the focus country.
