Punjab: At least six children were reportedly killed in a road accident in Patiala after the vehicle collided head-on with a tipper truck. The four-wheeler, Toyota Innova, was carrying a total of seven children, along with the driver, identified as Balwinder Singh, who died on the spot. According to reports, the seventh child’s condition is said to be critical.
Superintendent of Police (SP) City Patiala, Palwinder Singh Cheema, told ANI, “A very unfortunate incident has taken place. Seven children and a driver were travelling in an Innova. We received information that six of these children and the driver died. The seventh child is critical. This was a head-on collision with the tipper vehicle.” Meanwhile, SP Cheema informed that the driver of the tipper truck fled the spot and is absconding. Efforts are underway to track him down.

Punjab police have initiated a probe to find out the real cause of the tragic road accident. Officials are currently examining the CCTV footage and other evidence. Additionally, a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed, and those guilty will be penalised. Further details into the incident are still awaited.
