Bengaluru police imposed a fine of Rs 1.61 Lakh on a two-wheeler rider On Monday. A two-wheeler, worth no more than ₹50,000, racked up a staggering ₹1.61 lakh in traffic fines in Bengaluru. On Monday, the City Market Traffic Police stopped a vehicle with the registration number KA 05 JX 1344, uncovering 311 unpaid fines dating back to February 2023.
The two-wheeler, which had been evading fines, was flagged by an X user, bringing it to the police’s attention. The rider, identified as Sudeep, had been consistently breaking traffic laws but managed to dodge paying penalties. The registered owner, Periya Swamy, has now been issued a legal notice regarding the offenses.

The violations ranged from failing to wear a helmet to disregarding traffic signals. The vehicle has become the subject of online scrutiny. The user, Shibam, who had been tracking the vehicle’s fines for some time, tweeted that the fine amount had grown from ₹1,05,500 last year to ₹1,61,000. He also posted the images of the vehicle and the rider. The images showed that the vehicle violating traffic rules, including driving without a helmet. A screenshot of Traffic Challan was also attached. These screenshots displayed the total fines accumulated by the vehicle.
The post expressed the user’s frustration over how the traffic violator had avoided paying fines, while the police had yet to seize the vehicle, which had accumulated a staggering Rs 1.61 lakh in penalties. “How didn’t @blrcitytraffic seize his vehicle yet?” the post read, adding that the rider had been observed driving erratically in the past.
In response to the online post, the Bengaluru traffic police acknowledged the issue on X, assuring the public that they would take the necessary action. “Noted, we will take necessary action,” the tweet stated.

Many questioned the effectiveness of the Bengaluru traffic police enforcement system. A comment that sparked serious discussion was from a user who said, “Very soon, the fine amount will exceed the scooter’s value, and he will abandon the vehicle.” Some even suggested lodging an FIR against the rider and taking the matter to court. One comment stated, “An FIR should be lodged, and the fine should be claimed through court, regardless of the vehicle.”
