Mr Loan has been asked to file an affidavit by tomorrow after a top law officer accused him of raising pro-Pakistan slogans in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly in 2018.

The Supreme Court ordered Mr. Line to file an affidavit declaring his loyalty to the Constitution of India and opposing separatist forces and extremism in the former state.

“We want to assure it from Akbar Lone that he unconditionally considers Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India and that he abides by and owes allegiance to the Constitution of India,” the bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said.

The constitutional bench, which also consisted of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, BR Gavai, Sanjiv Khanna, and Surya Kant, stated that it would seek a statement from the Jammu and Kashmir leader when he will be presenting his aarguement.

Arguing the matter, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that these statements from senior leaders have their own effect. If he won’t apologize, it would motivate others. This will also have an impact on steps taken to store normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, said the Solicitor General.
