Scam Alert! Retirement Age Increased To 62? PIB Exposes Fake News-How Can You Check Fact?

PIB did the fact check for this post and said that the claim of the increase in the age of retirement is fake. They mentioned that there is no such decision made from the government’s end.

 A news which has gone viral on social media claiming that the Indian government has increased the age of retirement to 62. As per the news the Government of India has raised the age by 2 years.

According to the viral news spreading on every platform, The Union cabinet  has given approval for increase in age of the retirement of central government employees. According to this the latest update on this process will come into effect from April 1, 2025.

PIB did the fact check for this post and said that the claim of the increase in the age of retirement is fake. They mentioned that there is no such decision made from the government’s end. PIB urged people to not fall prey to such messages.

PIB fact check posted on their X handle, saying, “The Indian government has not taken any such decision.”

The claim came out to be a false one. PIB fact check page verified this claim. The government in August 2023 stated in Lok Sabha that there is no such proposal to change the retirement age of central government employees.
