Nearly 1500 houses and shops will be removed to build an elevated road that connects Shahberi to Crossing Republik to ease the traffic congestion between Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. According to reports, the Greater Noida Authority has started a survey for the construction of Elevated Road. They (authority officials) have identified nearly 1500 shops and houses that are built on the location of the flyover.
The report added that close to 10,000 people will be affected during the construction. However, the authority will identify them to provide compensation.
Notably, travelling from Greater Noida’s Shahberi to Crossing Republik in Ghaziabad will be smooth as the Greater Noida Authority has given a green flag to a flyover between this stretch. The flyover will ease congestion and help passengers to reach Jewar International Airport. According to reports, the GRENO will prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for further process.
CRRI Engaged In Preparing DPR
Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) is engaged in the preparation of the DPR. A team from the CRRI has done an initial site evaluation of the project and will now start preparing the DPR. The Shahberi flyover will ensure ease of passage to people traveling from Ghaziabad to the Greater Noida International Airport and other destinations in western Uttar Pradesh. The Greater Noida Authority has approved CRRI’s report for the Shahberi flyover. A flyover stretching 3.8 km long and 16 m wide will connect the ITeda roundabout to NH-9, with construction expected to start shortly.
GNIDA Sends Letter To CRRI
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority sent a letter to CRRI to prepare the DPR. The DPR will first be put before the authority board; upon approval, it will go to the state government for further clearance. Along with the DPR, a report has also been prepared for the construction of 4 km in length and 16 meters wide. The Jewar Airport in Greater Noida is expected to operate for commercial use by April 2025.
With the coming state-of-the-art airport, a large number of residents of western Uttar Pradesh will travel through Ghaziabad and Greater Noida to get to the airport. Hence the authority would work to get the road problems sorted even before the airport becomes functional. CRRI suggested two proposals about an elevated road-a 14-meter and a 16-meter wide flyover from Ghaziabad to Greater Noida West. The authority decided on the 16-meter wide flyover.
Problems To Be Solved By The Flyover
The one-km-long road from Shahberi to Crossing Republic has a width of 15 meters. It does not only connect these two places; it carries some extra traffic too, since travelers use it to access the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and the Ghaziabad-Noida Link Road. The road often suffers traffic jams, thereby putting the commuters in distress. Unwanted parking and encroachment from local furniture-shop owners do not help the situation. It is thought that once the flyover is made, such problems might no longer arise.
