Shocking Discovery! Fluid Evidence Suggests Gang-Rape In Kolkata Rape-Murder Case

In transferring the case to the CBI, the Calcutta High Court strongly condemned the hospital administration and particularly Dr. Sandip Ghosh

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation into the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at a government hospital in Kolkata. The case, which has sent shockwaves across the nation, was transferred following a petition by the victim’s parents, who raised serious concerns about the handling of the case by local authorities.

Evidence Suggests Gang Rape and Brutal Assault

The victim’s parents, in their petition, revealed that the postmortem report had confirmed their worst fears. The report stated unequivocally that the cause of death was strangulation and that the victim had suffered a brutal sexual assault. The autopsy found 150 mg of semen in the victim’s body, a quantity suggesting the involvement of more than one person, which supports the suspicion of gang rape.

The petition also highlighted the horrific nature of the attack, noting multiple injury marks on the victim’s body. Trauma was observed on several portions of her head, and injuries were found on her ears, lips, and neck, including bite marks, indicating a violent struggle.

Criticism of Kolkata Hospital and State Authorities

The parents expressed deep dissatisfaction with the actions or lack thereof by the hospital administration and state authorities. They pointed out that the hospital authorities, including the then-principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, failed to file a police complaint after discovering their daughter’s body. The court also criticized the state government for appointing Dr. Ghosh as the principal of another medical college just hours after he resigned from RG Kar Medical College.

Arrests and Allegations of a Cover-Up

Before the CBI took over, the state police had arrested Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer who frequented the hospital. However, the parents’ petition argued that no further arrests were made, despite clear evidence indicating that their daughter was the victim of a gang rape and murder—a crime that could not have been committed by one person alone. The parents further alleged that the autopsy was conducted hastily, possibly to shield other individuals involved in the crime.

High Court’s Directive and Concerns Over Evidence

In transferring the case to the CBI, the Calcutta High Court strongly condemned the hospital administration and particularly Dr. Sandip Ghosh. The court raised concerns about the integrity of the investigation carried out by local authorities, especially given the significant evidence suggesting the involvement of multiple perpetrators.

The victim’s parents have stated that they have reliable information indicating that at least three individuals were involved in the strangulation of their daughter. They believe the improper handling of the autopsy and the subsequent investigation was aimed at protecting those responsible for the crime.
