Smita Sabharwal, a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has asked the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of India to interfere in the release of the convicts in the murder of IAS officer G Krishnaiah in Bihar.

Smita, the secretary to Telangana’s Chief Minister, offered her condolences to Krishnaiah’s family on Wednesday. Smita, who is known for voicing her opinions on controversial matters, tweeted, “Sometimes one wonders if being a #civilservant is worth it. Request the #SC and #CJI to intervene. Solidarity with #Krishnaiah ji’s family.

She retweeted the Central IAS Association’s statement, which expressed grave dismay at the Bihar government’s decision to free the perpetrators of the heinous murder of former Gopalganj District Magistrate G Krishnaiah.

According to the IAS Association, a person who is guilty of killing a public servant in the line of duty cannot be pardoned. A change to the existing classification that results in the acquittal of a convicted murderer of a public worker is a form of denial of justice. It was further argued that by doing so, public servant morale suffers, public order is damaged, and the administration of justice is made a mockery of. The group urged the Bihar government to review its decision as soon as possible.

Krishnaya’s family, who live in Hyderabad, has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intercede and prevent former MP Anand Mohan Singh’s release. Uma, the wife of the killed IAS officer, expressed amazement at the Bihar government’s decision to release former MP Anand Mohan Singh by modifying the Bihar jail manual.

Uma suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi intervene and Nitish Kumar retract his decision, which she said would create a bad precedent and have major ramifications for the entire society. “My husband was an IAS officer, and it is the Center’s responsibility to ensure that justice is done,” she explained.

She claimed that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is releasing her husband’s killer in order to re-form the government with Rajput support.
