A tigress and her four cubs were found dead in Male Mahadeshwara Hills under the Hugyam forest range in Karnataka, news agency PTI reported Thursday.
Karnataka forest minister Eshwar Khandre ordered a probe into the “unnatural death” of a tigress and four cubs. The officials said the tigress and cubs were found dead in the morning hours.
The minister expressed grief over the deaths and ordered a probe into the matter under the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF). Officials said that the preliminary investigation suggested the tigers died due to poisoning. But , a detailed probe will establish the cause of the deaths.
60-Year-Old Man Mauled To Death By Tiger
On June 9, a 60-year-old man lost his life in a tiger attack in Rajasthan’s Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. This was the third such incident to occur in less than two months.
According to PTI, the victim has been identified as Radheshyam, who was a Jain temple caretaker in Ranthambore Fort. Police said he had gone to attend nature’s call when the tiger attacked him.
An official of the Tiger Reserve said the incident took place around 4:30 am. Two guards heard his screams but were unable to do anything.
Tiger partially ate his body
The official further added that the caretaker sustained deep wounds on the neck, and the tiger partially consumed his body around the thigh and buttocks.
The Ranthambore Reserve administration has installed cameras to identify the cat. The officials collected hair samples from the body to identify the tiger involved in the attack.
Locals staged protest
Locals staged a protest and blocked the Sawai Madhopur-Kundera road while accusing the administration of negligence.
Man killed in Tiger attack in Uttarakhand
In May, a man was killed by a Tiger in Uttarakhand’s Jim Corbett National Park. The deceased was identified as Vinod, who had gone to collect wood. As per reports, the tiger pounced on him and dragged him into the forest.
