Himachal Tragedy: Monsoon rains have created a ruckus in the northern part of the country these days. Due to incessant rains in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the last 5 days, normal life has been thrown out of gear. Due to incessant rains, flood-like situations have arisen in these areas. At the same time, 71 people died in Himachal due to the storm. The Himachal government has decided to keep schools and colleges closed even today due to heavy rains. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains in Himachal for the next 2 days and in Uttarakhand for the next 5 days.

IMD alert
According to the scientists of IMD, there is a possibility of light rain in Odisha till the 19th, in Jharkhand till the 18th and in West Bengal, Sikkim till the 17th of August. On the other hand, there is a possibility of heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura. On the other hand, there will be heavy rains in Chhattisgarh till August 20, during which there is a possibility of heavy rains in some parts of Madhya Pradesh. On the other hand, in the rest of the states of the country, monsoon activities will remain weak for the next 5 days.
Roads to Badrinath, Kedarnath blocked
Incessant rains in Himachal for the last few days have led to flood situations in districts like Kangra, Shimla and Mandi. Thousands of people got stuck at many places. At the same time, many houses were also turned into debris. At the same time, many buildings have been destroyed in Uttarakhand due to the rain since Monday.

Roads leading to Badrinath, Kedarnath and Gangotri have been blocked due to landslides. Rescue and relief operations are in full swing in both states. Rescuers pulled out four more bodies from the rubble of a resort in Uttarakhand’s Laxman Jhula that was hit by a landslide following heavy rains on Monday.
Evacuation
At the same time, after 35 years in Himachal, the gates of Bhakra Dam have been opened after heavy rains. Due to this, villages in Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab have been submerged. Himachal CM Sukhu said that till now more than 1100 people have been rescued in Kangra by helicopters and motor boats.
According to NDRF, so far more than 960 people have been rescued in Himachal, Uttarakhand and Punjab. While more than 10 thousand people have been sent to safer places. According to NDRF, so far 29 teams have been deployed in relief and rescue operations. In 14 teams are deployed during this period, while the rest have been kept on standby.
