Tragic Bus Accident In Bathinda: 8 Dead As Vehicle Plunges Into Drain

A private bus, which was traveling from Talwandi Sabo to Bathinda, fell into a drain after the driver lost control, reportedly due to heavy rain and poor visibility.

At least eight people have died and 18 others have been injured in a tragic bus accident in Bathinda, Punjab. The incident occurred on Friday, December 27, 2024, when a private bus fell into a drain after crashing through a bridge’s railing.

The bus was traveling from Sardulgarh to Bathinda when it lost control, reportedly due to heavy rain and possibly lightning. Eyewitnesses described how the bus veered off the road and plunged into a filthy drain below the bridge. Local authorities confirmed that five passengers died at the scene, while three others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Rescue operations were promptly initiated, with local residents and emergency services working together to pull survivors from the wreckage. The injured were taken to Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital, where they are receiving medical care.

Bathinda Urban MLA Jagroop Singh Gill visited the hospital to assess the situation and was briefed by medical staff about the victims. The identities of those who lost their lives are still being confirmed.
