In a heart-wrenching incident today, a road accident on the Srinagar-Leh Highway near Gund Kangan in Ganderbal district of Kashmir resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including three tourists from Maharashtra and a local driver. The collision occurred when a Toyota Etios struck a bus, leading to the tragic event that has left the people in shock.
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, providing first aid to the injured before transporting them to the sub-district hospital in Kangan. Medical Officer Dr. Salma Jan confirmed the fatalities and reported that 17 others sustained injuries, with two individuals in critical condition. The injured have since been referred to hospitals in Srinagar for advanced medical care.
In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his condolences in an official statement, saying, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic road accident on the highway near Gund, Kangan, which has claimed several lives and left many others injured. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance.”
As Police are looking into the circumstances which led the lethal road accident, the locals mourns the loss of lives and hopes for a speedy recovery for those affected.
