Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gitte Kirankumar Dinkaro said 31,000 polling personnel and 25,000 security personnel from central forces have been deployed to conduct the elections for the 60 seats in a free, fair and peaceful manner. Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha casted his vote at Maharani Tulsubati Girls High School in Town Bordovali assembly constituency. Manik Saha, after casting his vote for the Tripura Assembly elections, said, “It feels good. I urge all voters to cast their vote.”

 

PM Modi has appealed to the voters for record voting by tweeting. Urging the people of Tripura to vote in record numbers and strengthen the festival of democracy, he tweeted. I especially call upon the youth to exercise their franchise.

Tight security arrangements for voting

Adequate security arrangements have been made regarding the voting. There are 97 women-managed police stations in the state. There are 94,815 voters in the age group of 18-19 and 6,21,505 voters in the age group of 22-29. The maximum number of voters is 9,81,089 in the age group of 40-59.

Tripura is the first state to go to polls this year, while polling for the Nagaland and Meghalaya Assemblies will be held on February 27. Elections are to be held in five more states this year for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The counting of votes will take place on March 2.
