Two deportees were immediately arrested upon landing in Amritsar by the Punjab Police. The second United States military plane carrying the second of 119 Indian deportees landed in Punjab on Saturday. The two detainees identified as Sandeep and Pradeep are cousins and were wanted in murder case filed in Patiala in 2023.
The murder case had been filed two years back in Patiala district’s Rajpura town. A team of Patiala police arrested them as they landed at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ramdas Airport on Saturday, reported Hindustan Times.
According to the police, both the accused come from Rajpura town. They were already declared proclaimed offenders in the murder case. They were book under sections 302, 307, 323, 506, 148 and 149 of Indian Penal Code by Patiala Police in murder case registered on June 26, 2023. However, no ‘Look Out Circular’ was issued against the two by the police officials.
Second Batch Of Immigrants Arrives In Amritsar
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday assured that the immigrants would be given appropriate treatment and that all arrangements were in place. The Chief Minister further mentioned the deportees would be staying in Amritsar for a few hours before being sent to their respective homelands.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said, “Our kids are the ones which are coming here anyway, so from here no one can go hungry, we will make arrangements. We have also made staying arrangements for them. They will stay here for a few hours and then go to their respective states as the flights have been booked by the Ministry of External Affairs already.”
Among the deported passengers, 67 are from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, 8 from Gujarat, 3 from Uttar Pradesh, 2 each from Maharashtra and Rajasthan, and one native each from Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh, reports added.\
