A surreal incident occurred in Moradabad and the capital Lucknow, of Uttar Pradesh. A 28-year-old woman took her life by jumping in front of a train. Her torso was severed and fell on the railway track, however, her head became lodged in the engine and was transported all the way to Lucknow.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) has laid hold of both the head and the body and has initiated an investigation. Police are treating it as a suicide, however, the family contended that the woman had a mental illness and had a condition known as sleepwalking.
Anshu, a resident of Kanshiram Nagar in the area of Majhola police station, Moradabad, was mentally retarded. Her father Mahipal Singh is a rickshaw puller. Liberal relatives said that she has a sleepwalking disorder. On Tuesday night, she was missing from the house. She was hit by the AC Express (12430) from New Delhi to Lucknow, near a place called Sirkoi Bhud.
The incident occurred around 2 to 2:30 AM leading to her death. Her head was caught in the engine and continued forward, except her torso remained there on the track. When they got the call, the police came out to respond and there were locals around. The family identified her by a tattoo on her hand.
The head which was lodged in the engine travelled nearly 350 km to the Charbagh station, in Lucknow. GRP removed the head from the engine and proceeded with their investigation. When contacted, the Moradabad GRP confirmed information related to the head and torso. Moradabad Grp also posted via their social media accounts that the local police took the necessary action with the matter.
