USA Foreign Minister Antony Blinken Offers Condolences On Demise Of Former Indian PM Manmohan Singh

USA offered their condolences on the demise of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. A statement for the same was released by USA's foreign ministry.

Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92 on December 26. One of the trailblazers mostly known for revolutionising the Indian economy took his last breath at AIIMS, New Delhi and died at 09:51 PM IST (Indian Standard Time). One of the longest-serving Prime Ministers of India and stayed in office from 2004 to 2014. Not having many haters, Manmohan Singh’s demise brought reactions from many leading politicians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and others. Many other foreign leaders paid their last respects to the former late Indian PM and one of them was the USA.

USA Offer Condolences To Manmohan Singh

USA’s foreign minister Antony Blinken extended his last wishes for Manmohan Singh and his statement was shared by USA’s foreign ministry. The statement read, “The United States offers our sincere condolences to the people of India for the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Dr. Singh was one of the greatest champions of the U.S.-India strategic partnership, and his work laid the foundation for much of what our countries have accomplished together in the past two decades. His leadership in advancing the U.S.-India Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement signified a major investment in the potential of the U.S.-India relationship.  At home, Dr. Singh will be remembered for his economic reforms that spurred India’s rapid economic growth. We mourn Dr. Singh’s passing and will always remember his dedication to bringing the United States and India closer together.”

Manmohan Singh entered the limelight when he was appointed as the governor of Reserve Bank of India. However, one of major contributions was the revolutionary step he took as the finance minister of India in 1992 under the PV Narsimha Rao government. Later, Manmohan Singh took over as the 14th PM of India in 2004 and delivered many key schemes throughout his tenure. On the sidelines, Manmohan Singh was known for his poetic style in the Parliament.
