Kedarnath Dham is counted among the major Hindu pilgrimage sites dedicated to Lord Shiva, where a large number of devotees reach for darshan every day during the Yatra period. This area is considered to be prone to landslides, especially during the monsoon and the months before it. That is why travelers have been advised to be cautious.
Rudraprayag Police, Uttarakhand wrote on their X handle that “The path leading to Kedarnath Dham was damaged due to debris and stones falling in the ravine near Jangalchatti. The path from Sonprayag to Kedarnath Dham has been suspended till further orders. Effective security is being ensured for the devotees travelling on the footpath, including those who had left for Kedarnath Dham before the road was damaged…”

Due to the landslide, heavy rocks and debris fell into the ravine, affecting an important part of the trekking route. In an official statement issued on social media in this regard, the police has assured that all necessary arrangements are being made for the safety of the devotees who had set out on the yatra before the route was closed.
