Uttarakhand’s picturesque mid and higher hills are now under the enchanting spell of winter, marked by recent snowfall at high altitudes and rainfall in lower-lying areas and foothills. The regional meteorological center has issued an orange alert for Monday, forecasting snowfall in areas situated above 3,500 meters, along with the likelihood of thunderstorms in various other locations across the state.
Speaking of, Pithoragarh received its season’s first snowfall covering the entire area with snow. Kala Pani And Om mountains are covered in white. Frost has also increased in the area due to continuous rainfall.
According to Regional Meteorological Center head, Bikram Singh, the snowfall continued on Monday in Kedarnath which led to a decrease in the temperature below sub-zero level. The temperature at Kedarnath was -O.2 degrees Celsius at 2:30 pm.
Issuing an orange alert Indian Meteorological Department on Monday, predicted the possibility of light rain and snowfall in certain locations including Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh.
The district officials stated that Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttarkashi received their season’s first rainfall on Monday. Whereas Dehradun witnessed strong thunderstorms with its temperature settled at 28 degrees Celsius. According to Bikram Singh, rain and thunderstorms will wane by Tuesday and dry weather will prevail by Wednesday.
Shri Badrinath Dham Temple committee issued a statement stating that the doors of Shri Gangotri Dham will be closed for the winter season on November 14. Furthermore, Shri Yamunotri Dham will be closed for winter on November 15.
Meanwhile, the date on which the doors of Shri Badrinath Dham will be closed is slated to be decided on the day of Vijay Dashmi, October 24. In order to announce the date of closure of doors, a religious ceremony will be conducted on the premises of Shri Badrinath Dham.
