Uttarakhand Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted favourable conditions for the further advance of the Southwest Monsoon into parts of Uttarakhand over the next two to three days. This development is expected to bring widespread rainfall in the upcoming week. Kumaon and Garhwal regions are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning in hilly areas.
Weather Forecast For Thursday, June 19
According to the latest forecast by Meteorological Centre, Dehradun, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely at most places in districts of the Kumaon region on Thursday, June 19. Many places in the Garhwal region are also expected to experience similar weather today.
The Meteorological Centre has further warned of heavy rainfall at isolated locations in Bageshwar and Nainital districts. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places across all districts of Uttarakhand.
Talking about temperature conditions in the state, it has remained relatively stable. According to IMD’s observation, maximum temperatures remained normal in plains and normal to below normal in hills of Uttarakhand. Highest maximum temperature of 34.7°C was recorded at Mohkampur (Dehradun) and lowest minimum temperature 13.8°C was recorded at Mukteshwar (Nainital) on Wednesday, June 18.
Maximum temperatures are likely to remain near normal during next 1-2 days and decrease thereafter.
Forecast For Next Five Days
June 20: Light to moderate rain / thunderstorm likely to occur at few places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar districts and at many places in remaining districts of Uttarakhand. A yellow alert for intense spell has been issued for Dehradun & Nainital.
June 21: Light to moderate rain / thunderstorm are expected in Haridwar and at many places in remaining districts of Uttarakhand. An orange alert for rainfall has been issued for Bageshwar, Champawat and Nainital. Heavy rainfall in Pithoragarh.
June 22: Light to moderate rain / thunderstorm likely to occur at most places in all districts of Uttarakhand. An orange alert for rainfall has been issued for Dehradun, Pauri, Champawat, Bageshwar and Nainital. Yellow alert for rainfall in Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar.
June 23: Light to moderate rain / thunderstorm expected at many places in all districts of Uttarakhand.
June 24: Light to moderate rain / thunderstorm have been predicted over many places in all districts of Uttarakhand.


Residents and tourists in vulnerable regions, particularly hilly areas, are advised to stay alert and follow weather advisories. The onset of heavier rains often raises the risk of landslides and flash floods in these areas.
