Weather Updates: More than 100 people have died in rain and flood related incidents in many states of the country including North India. Among these, maximum 80 people have died in Himachal Pradesh. Around 300 people are still stuck in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh due to incessant rain and snowfall. Most of them are tourists. Apart from Himachal, 15 people lost their lives due to rain in parts of Punjab and Haryana. In the neighboring state of Uttarakhand, nine pilgrims were killed and 13 others injured in landslides caused by boulders falling from mountains in the last 24 hours. 45 years’ record broken in Delhi

The Yamuna crossed the danger mark of 205.33 meters in Delhi, inundating several low-lying areas along the river. The water level is dangerously close to touching the highest level mark of 207.49 metres, which was recorded in 1978. Both road and rail traffic on the old Yamuna bridge has been closed as Haryana has released excess water into Yamuna from Hathinikund barrage in Yamunanagar.

Rs 1,050 crore damage in Himachal

In the hill state of Himachal Pradesh, 80 people lost their lives and 92 others were injured due to rain and flood related incidents. Torrential rains lashed the state, with 79 houses destroyed and 333 partially damaged. The state has suffered a loss of around Rs 1,050 crore due to the floods.

Landslides have occurred at 41 places in the state, while a cloudburst has occurred at one place. Flash floods caused by swollen rivers and incessant rains have so far hit 29 places.
