Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha directed the police to take “immediate action” after a 19-year-old girl from Tripura, who was studying in Delhi, went missing on July 7. Police said the girl has been identified as Sneha Debnath, who hails from Sabnoom in South Tripura and was studying at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, which comes under Delhi University.
Investigators said that Debnath had a last conversation with her family member on July 7 around 5: 56 am. She informed the member that she was going to meet one of her friends, Pitunia, at the Sarai Rohilla Railway station. “After three hours, around 9 am, when her family members tried to contact her, her mobile remained switched off. Later, it was revealed that she never met Pitunia,” said police.
Later, it was revealed that a cab driver dropped Debnath near Signature Bridge in Delhi. A team of Delhi police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) thoroughly searched around seven kilometres around the Signature Bridge on July 9, but no leads were found.
Her family members told police that all of her personal belongings were intact and even no money had been withdrawn from her account when she disappeared. As the incident was widely circulated and people started tagging Tripura CM, Saha acknowledged the issue and directed the police to take immediate and an appropriate action.
The report of Miss Sneha Debnath, a resident of Sabroom, who has reportedly gone missing in New Delhi, has come to the notice of the Chief Minister's Office.
