Lok Sabha MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh, who is also known as Engineer Rashid has filed an application in the Patiala House Court in New Delhi for seeking the interim bail for attending the parliament session.
President of Awami Ittehad Party, Engineer Rashid is a MP from Baramulla. Currently he is in the judicial custody in NIA case.
Principal District and Session judge of Patiala High court has sent a notice to NIA seeking response from them on this matter. The next hearing is scheduled on Wednesday, November 27.
AIP president Engineer Rashid has addressed the court via video conferencing and submitted the application regarding the interim bail.
He mentioned that he was elected by the people and has not been allowed to attend the last parliament session. He mentioned that, “”With folded hands I request that I may be granted interim bail.”
On November 21, while hearing the J&K terror funding case, The NIA special court has recommended to transfer the case to special court meant for MP and MLAs. Now the accused Engineer Rashid is also an MP.
Recently the accused and Lok Sabha MP from Baramulla has surrendered at Tihar Jail after his interim bail got expired. He got arrested in the year 2019 under the UAPA. Rashid filed his nomination from jail for the parliamentary election. He defeated Omar Abdullah.
