A woman and two minors who allegedly stole bridal wear worth Rs 2 crore were arrested by a name that was printed on a tempo, which they used to carry out the robbery. Thieves did not leave a single piece of evidence behind, but they forgot to erase “Raj” from the tempo, which helped police in tracing them.
According to reports, the cops scanned multiple cameras to create a road map of the vehicle with the name “Raj” and nabbed the suspects.
The incident was reported late at night from Fatehpur Beri in south Delhi. According to reports on Saturday midnight, a lady with two other people approached the security guard, deployed at the boutique. The lady posing as a relative of the owner told the guard that she wanted to use the washroom.
Later, the suspects overpowered the guard and tied him up. The three then robbed around 50 designer bridal clothes, electronic gadgets, four paintings, and various other valuables, which were later retrieved from a rented room in Aya Nagar, according to the officer.
The robbers had disconnected the DVR of the CCTV camera to erase any possible evidence. But the police tracked the Tempo van that was used in the crime.
Police said the robbers put black tape on the number plate of the tempo to hide the registration number, but a name, “Raj,” printed on the tempo, turned out to be crucial evidence. The arrested juveniles confessed to their crime and named the other two involved, said police.
The juveniles, both Sultanpur locals, are said to have plotted and executed the robbery, with one of them well aware of the layout of the place and the value of dresses. His social media acquaintance, a woman, was arrested in Ghaziabad.
