Barley soup: Ingredients

  • Barley – 2-3 tbsp
  • Garlic chopped – 1 tsp
  • Chopped white part of onion – 1/4 cup
  • Carrot chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Tomatoes finely chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Masoor dal – 2 tbsp
  • Chopped green part of onion – 1/4 cup
  • Black pepper powder – 1-2 pinch
  • Green Coriander – 2-3 tbsp
  • Oil – 1 tsp
  • salt – as per taste

Recipe

  • To make barley soup, first clean the barley and soak it in water for 2 hours.
  • After this, filter the barley with water, after that wash and filter the lentils.
  • Now heat 1 tsp oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add white part of green onion and garlic to it and fry on medium flame.
  • After some time, add finely chopped carrots, barley, lentils, salt as per taste.
  • After this add 4-5 cups of water and apply 4-5 whistles.
  • When the whistles come, turn off the gas and let the pressure of the cooker release.
  • After this, open the lid of the cooker and take out the mixture in a vessel.
  • Now put barley-lentil mixture, green part of spring onion, tomato in a pan.
  • Add green coriander, black pepper powder and salt along with it and cook it well.
  • Now increase the flame of the gas and let the soup boil well.
  • Once the soup boils further, reduce the flame to medium and let the soup cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Your nutritious barley soup is ready, now serve it hot.
